DISPARATES NEWS EN LA SEMANA DE LA MUJER: Entrevista con La Mujer Maravilla. Interview with Wonder Woman in women´s week. (Spanish & English post).

La Mujer Maravilla (en inglés, Wonder Woman) es una serie de televisión estadounidense basada en la superheroína de la editorial DC Comics, Mujer Maravilla. Protagonizada por la actriz y cantante estadounidense Lynda Carter, como la Mujer Maravilla (y su alter ego Diana Prince) y Lyle Waggoner como Steve Trevor. La serie de televisión fue transmitida originalmente entre 1975 a 1979, con un total de tres temporadas.

Después de muchos años, varias cadenas de televisión de Estados Unidos intentaron volver a llevar a la televisión a la Mujer Maravilla, entre estas productoras, la CBS, la ABC2​ y Warner Bros a través de The CW3​4​ entre 2011 y 2012 hicieron dos pilotos que nunca se concretaron, uno llamado Wonder Woman de 2011, y otro que nunca se logró producir, llamado Amazon de 2012.

—Diana, por favor háblenos un poco sobre los orígenes de la popular serie de televisión La Mujer Maravilla.

La popular serie de televisión tuvo sus orígenes en una película para la televisión de 1974, que sirvió como uno de los episodios piloto, y que sería la base de la serie estrenada en 1975. La película para la televisión que fue estrenada un año antes, en 1974, llevaba el título de La Mujer Maravilla, en ese entonces fue protagonizada por la actriz rubia Cathy Lee Crosby, que no se parecía a mí, ni tampoco tenía mis superpoderes, el guionista estadounidense John DF Black fue quien escribió y produjo esa película para la televisión en 1974.

—¿De dónde tomó su origen la versión definitiva de su personaje?

La versión definitiva de mi personaje fue fiel al cómic, donde su origen se remonta a la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

—¿Qué pasó después de la segunda película que protagonizó Lynda Carter?

Inmediatamente su éxito llevó a la cadena de televisión ABC a pedir dos episodios más de una hora que se emitirían en abril de 1976. Este éxito llevó a la ABC a pedir un adicional de once episodios que se transmitirían semanalmente, en su mayoría, durante el primer semestre entre 1976 y 1977, esa fue su temporada completa. Los episodios se transmitían los miércoles por la noche.

—¿Por qué la cadena ABC se mostró reacia a renovar la serie después de que la primera temporada logró una alta calificación?

Se trató de una serie antológica y con potencial para ser mejor una película en su momento, y como tal, era muy cara de producir por la época en que se presentaba, a diferencia de una serie ambientada en la actualidad de aquel entonces. El presidente de Warner Bros Television, Jerry Lieder, fue a la CBS con la intención de reformatear la serie y recrearla en una época más cotidiana, por ese motivo se decidió que las aventuras serían trasladadas a los años 70, que en su momento era la época contemporánea de la serie. La CBS aceptó y continuó la serie en 1977, extendiéndola por dos temporadas más.

—Ahora que ya hablamos de la serie de La Mujer Maravilla, por favor háblenos de usted y sus verdaderos orígenes.

Yo provengo de la Isla Paraíso, ubicada en el medio del Triángulo de las Bermudas.

—¿Cuál es la característica principal de la Isla Paraíso y sus habitantes?

Por más de dos mil años la Isla Paraíso no ha aparecido en ningún mapa y está habitada solo por mujeres Amazonas que huimos del machismo del Mundo Antiguo y que hallamos en ese aislamiento los secretos de la Inmortalidad y el Poder.

—¿Qué fue lo que ocurrió para que usted surgiera como La Mujer Maravilla?

En 1942, un malherido Mayor Steve Trevor, piloto estadounidense que acababa de ser abatido en combate por un avión nazi, se estrelló en la Isla Paraíso. Gracias a él, las Amazonas nos enteramos de que el mundo exterior estaba en guerra contra el Nazismo que planeaba esclavizar a toda la humanidad. La reina amazona Hipólita decidió enviarme como la más poderosa guerrera para que ayudara a los Aliados a derrotar al Tercer Reich, que era una especie de versión moderna del Imperio Romano del cual una vez huyó mi pueblo. En un torneo, fui elegida yo, la princesa Diana, como la guerrera amazona que iría a ayudar a la humanidad en representación nuestra, armada con potentes artilugios mágicos.

—¿Qué fue lo primero que usted hizo como Mujer Maravilla?

En un avión invisible, llevé al Mayor Trevor para ser curado de sus heridas y al llegar a Washington fui contratada por él para que lo asistiera como su secretaria personal.

—¿Qué ocurrió luego?

Transcurrieron treinta años y yo vivía de nuevo en la Isla Paraíso cuando el hijo de Steve, Steve Trevor Jr. tuvo un accidente en un avión secuestrado que aterrizó de emergencia en la isla. En ese momento también lo auxilié como a su padre y decidí regresar a USA para ayudarlo a combatir, pero esta vez a la Guerra Fría.

En esa ocasión, al llegar a Estados Unidos, fui contratada por Steve Trevor Jr. como la asistente general de la Agencia Especial de Defensa, donde aparentaba que era una joven adinerada de nombre Diana Prince. Desde entonces vivo en un flamante ático, conduzco un Mercedes Benz Sl convertible, visto siempre a la moda y uso maletas y portafolios de las afamadas casas Louis Vuitton y Gucci.

—¿Contra quienes lucha en su personalidad como La Mujer Maravilla?

Lucho contra los villanos, generalmente espías y saboteadores que planean bombardeos de Washington.

Interview with Wonder Woman:

Wonder Woman is an American television series based on the DC Comics superheroine Wonder Woman. Starring American actress and singer Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman (and her alter ego Diana Prince) and Lyle Wagoner as Steve Trevor. The television series was originally broadcast from 1975 to 1979, with a total of three seasons.

After many years, several television networks in the United States tried to bring Wonder Woman back to television, among these production companies, CBS, ABC2 and Warner Bros through The CW34 between 2011 and 2012 they made two pilots that never were finalized, one called Wonder Woman from 2011, and another that was never produced, called Amazon from 2012.

Let’s get started!

—Diana, please tell us a little about the origins of the popular television series Wonder Woman.

The popular television series had its origins in a 1974 television movie, which served as one of the pilot episodes, and which would be the basis for the series released in 1975. The television movie that was released a year earlier, In 1974, it had the title Wonder Woman, at that time it starred the blonde actress Cathy Lee Crosby, who did not look like me, nor did she have my superpowers, the American screenwriter John DF Black was the one who wrote and produced that film for television in 1974.

—How is the second 1975 film different from the previous one?

—What happened after the second film that Lynda Carter starred in?

—Its immediate success led the ABC television network to order two more one-hour episodes to be broadcast in April 1976. This success led ABC to order an additional eleven episodes to be broadcast weekly, mostly throughout the year first semester between 1976 and 1977, that was its full season. Episodes aired on Wednesday nights.

—Why was ABC reluctant to renew the series, after the first season achieved a high rating?

—It was an anthology series and had the potential to be a better movie at the time, and as such, it was very expensive to produce for the time in which it was presented, unlike a series set in the present day of that time. The president of Warner Bros Television, Jerry Lieder, went to CBS with the intention of reformatting the series and recreating it in a more everyday time, for this reason it was decided that the adventures would be transferred to the 70s, which at the time was the contemporary era of the series. CBS accepted and continued the series in 1977, extending it for two more seasons.

—Now that we’ve talked about the Wonder Woman series, please tell us about yourself and your true origins.

I come from Paradise Island, located in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle.

—What is the main characteristic of Paradise Island and its inhabitants?

For more than two thousand years, Paradise Island has not appeared on any map and is inhabited only by Amazon women who fled from the sexism of the Ancient World and who found in that isolation the secrets of Immortality and Power.

—What happened for you to emerge as Wonder Woman?

In 1942, a badly injured Major Steve Trevor, an American pilot who had just been shot down in combat by a Nazi plane, crashed on Paradise Island. Thanks to him, we Amazons learned that the outside world was at war against Nazism that planned to enslave all of humanity. The Amazon Queen Hippolyta decided to send me as the most powerful warrior to help the Allies defeat the Third Reich, which was a kind of modern version of the Roman Empire from which my people once fled. In a tournament, I, Princess Diana, was chosen as the Amazon warrior who would go to help humanity on our behalf, armed with powerful magical gadgets.

—What was the first thing you did as Wonder Woman?

In an invisible plane, I took Major Trevor to be treated for his wounds and upon arriving in Washington I was hired by him to assist him as his personal secretary.

—What happened next?

Thirty years passed and I was living on Paradise Island again when Steve’s son, Steve Trevor Jr. had an accident in a hijacked plane that made an emergency landing on the island. At that time I also helped him like his father and decided to return to the USA to help him fight, but this time against the Cold War.

On that occasion, upon arriving in the United States, I was hired by Steve Trevor Jr. as the assistant general of the Special Defense Agency, where it appeared that I was a wealthy young woman named Diana Prince. Since then I live in a brand new penthouse, I drive a convertible Mercedes Benz Sl, I always dress in fashion and I use suitcases and briefcases from the famous Louis Vuitton and Gucci brands.

—Who do you fight against in your personality as Wonder Woman?

I fight villains, usually spies and saboteurs who plan bombings of Washington.
